Description: This handbook covers common vestibular disorders, dedicating a section for each entity that covers the pathophysiology and how to evaluate and treat the entity. This book was previously published in German in 2004.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide an overview of the more common vertigo and dizziness syndromes. Since vertigo and dizziness are common presenting symptoms, the objectives of this book are not only worthy, but warranted. The authors have done a great job in achieving the objectives.
Audience: According to the authors, this book is written for any practitioner who sees patients with these syndromes. It is also useful for residents and medical students and it is written in a manner that is easy to understand. The authors are credible in this area.
Features: This book provides an overview of peripheral, central, and traumatic vertigo. It also covers psychogenic causes and other uncommon syndromes. The book initially covers the physiology of the vestibular system, then covers each entity, discussing the work-up and the treatment options. A DVD that accompanies the book presents typical case histories, results of examinations for the individual syndromes, physical exam techniques, and laboratory diagnostics.
